Will I live through him?

So yesterday we had a bit of a traumatic experience, Xander decided it would be a wonderful idea to take his sisters rolling horse down the steps. It wasn't. I happened to be sitting in a chair holding Lailah who had just woken up from a nap when I happened to hear thumping down the stairs. I went running over to the stairs to see my beloved son airborne and land in a heap at the bottom of the steps. I quickly scooped him up and decided a trip to the ER was a necessity.
Thankfully some friends where home and could meet me to pick up Lailah so I wouldn't have to drag two kids into the ER.
We got to the ER and the nurses didn't do much to assure me everything was okay..They were trying to page the trauma center, because they felt we needed to to go there. The people over in Trauma didn't. So we were admitted. By this time Xander was starting to talk again, and by the time the Doctor got there, he was back to his chatty self. A bruise on the front of his head and a bump on the back where the horse hit him and all was well. The Doctor asked whose fault it was and his reply was "the horses". He was kept for observation, during which he got to watch Sesame Street, which he loves and I never let him watch. I think he thought it was great fun to be in the hospital.
Today he's no worse for the wear, tried to launch himself out of his sister crib this morning and hurt his foot. Is there a way to "boy proof" the house? The Doc. asked if we had gates up, I said yes, but seriously when your 2.5 year old knows how to open gates what good do they do?
I really hope my heart makes it through, well at least until he gets married and then he's someone else's worry ;).
I am really thankful that he is okay, and I truly believe his Angel caught him (even though Xander asked that all Angel's stay outside of the house).
Well thats all for now, gotta go clean up the noodles I hear hitting the floor.

Hey! It's Austin-Lee. :) Just found your blog through facebook! :) I'm totally right there with you. :) My son is like Evil Knievel or something. It also doesn't seem to matter what I do as far as "boy proofing" the house...he still manages to find something to flip off of. ;) Good luck!

At least he opens the gates to get through them. It could be worse - he could climb them and then launch himself off like he's flying.
